A lantern of paper and iron, glowing like dusk over a river.
The shade is traditional mulberry paper, known as washi, stretched over a white iron frame, so the lamp reads as a sculpture first and a light second. Its design comes from a fishing village in Gifu, Japan, where lanterns lit the river at dusk. The paper turns any bulb into a soft, diffused warmth, and each piece shows slight variations in the fiber that come from the handwork. It takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb and switches with a foot switch on the cord.
Four styles, each its own silhouette. The lower ones sit beside a sofa or in a reading nook, and the tallest stands well in a corner of a living room, a hotel lobby or a meditation room. All four share the same white frame and paper, so they also work grouped together.

Sculpture for a quiet corner
Debbie stretches handmade mulberry washi over a white iron frame, so it stands like a piece of sculpture. It elevates the space beside a sofa, a reading nook or the corner of a living room.
Warm light through paper
The washi turns any bulb into a soft, even warmth, glowing like a lantern at dusk over a river. Debbie fills the room with the calm of a Japanese evening.
Lovely lit or unlit
Switched off, the paper still shows the fine fibers of the handwork, and each piece varies a little. A foot switch on the cord makes Debbie easy to turn on as you pass.

The lower styles sit naturally beside a sofa or in a reading nook, and the tallest stands well in a corner. If the space allows it, the tallest makes the boldest statement.
