Victor is a lantern in ribbed white silk, hung on a cable you set to the height you want.

The shade is silk over a metal base in a clean white finish, and it comes with the fixture rather than as an extra you discover later. Light through silk arrives warm and even rather than hard-edged, which is why this belongs in a room you sit in. The cable adjusts and the canopy handles a sloped ceiling, so it can hang almost anywhere the wiring reaches. One E26 bulb does the work, not supplied — use LED, because heat is what ruins a silk shade.

Shape is the whole choice here. Ball is the rounded one, an easy answer above a bedside table or in a hallway. Saucer spreads wide and sits shallow, which suits a kitchen island or a ceiling that will not take anything deeper. Drum reads wider than it is tall, the calm option over a dining table. Pear is the largest of the four and the most sculptural, worth the space in a stairwell or an entry where people look up as they come in.
