Amphitrite is stone carved to look like cloth that has just stopped moving.
Natural travertine, cut and worked until it falls the way fabric falls, and pinned in place by a wooden accent. The light comes out from beneath the fold rather than off the face of it, so what you see is the texture of the stone lit sideways rather than a lamp shining at you. Two G9 bulbs sit behind it, which means LED or Edison filament, both cheap and both yours to pick. Travertine forms over geological time through processes nobody supervised, so the grain running through the fold is unrepeatable.
It comes four ways: the fold falls to the left or to the right, and the light throws up or down. That is not decoration — it is how you make a pair face each other across a bed, or run a row up a stairwell that all lean the same way. Down-throwing suits a bedside or a console, where you want the light on the surface below. Up-throwing suits a corridor, where the wash on the wall above is the whole point.
