Aktaia is a cone of quarried stone you can aim.
The shade is cut from natural travertine, and because the stone is porous part of the light escapes through the shade itself rather than only out of the open end. It mounts on a dark wood backplate through an adjustable joint, so the cone turns toward whatever you want lit. A pull chain switches it, which means it does not depend on a switch being within reach. Fit it with an E26 or E27 bulb of your choosing; nothing is supplied, and that is what keeps the tone adjustable.
Nothing here is configurable, so the only question is placement. It earns its keep where light needs a direction — over the side of a bed, above a chair you read in, or partway down a hall where the ceiling fitting leaves a gap.

Point it where you read
The shade sits on an adjustable joint, so it turns toward the book, the chair or the bed. The ceiling light stays where the electrician put it; this one does not have to.
Stone that lets light through
Travertine is porous, so some of the light escapes through the shade itself rather than only out of the open end. The glow ends up softer than the beam it started as.
Walnut against quarried stone
A dark wood backplate carries the stone shade, warm against warm. It takes an everyday E26 or E27 bulb, so nothing about it is hard to live with.
