Thebe rests a slab of dark stone on a block of walnut and lets it turn.
The light unit is housed in a rectangular body of black travertine with a subtly textured finish, mounted on a solid walnut block. Rough dark stone against clean pale timber — the contrast is the whole design. The unit pivots on the block, so the beam goes to a book, a picture or the wall itself. Integrated at 5W and 450 lumens, warm white, with nothing to buy.
It arrives fixed, and the aim does the rest. Turned down it lights a book beside a bed; turned along the wall it grazes plaster or brick and brings out the texture; turned up it lifts a low ceiling. The pull chain means it works on a wall with no switch of its own, which is often the wall you actually want it on.
