Stephane is pleated ivory fabric drawn up onto a gold center, like a crown seen from below.
An iron body finished in gold, under an ivory white fabric shade folded into fine radiating pleats. Three sockets sit inside it, E26 or E27, so the shade lights evenly across its full width rather than going hot in the middle. Fabric this pale does not tint what passes through it; it takes the edge off. The gold shows only at the center and the fittings, which is about as much metal as a ceiling this soft can carry.
The two sizes are not the same shape. The shallower one sits tight to the ceiling and is the one for a hallway, a landing, or a bedroom with no height to spare. The deeper one drops on a short stem and reads as a semi-flush, with more presence — a dining table, an entry, a room where eight feet is not the ceiling.
