Aedon is ostrich feather on brass, and it is what people look at first when they come through the door. The shade is a full circle of real feather; the frame under it is brass, in a polished or a silver finish. Ten colors run from Natural and Cloud through Ivy green, Mandarin orange and Peacock green. The base is narrow, so it barely touches the surface it stands on.
On a hall console it is the whole arrangement — you do not need to put anything else there. On a bedroom dresser it fills the wall behind it, and it is the light you leave on when the rest of the room has gone dark. Natural and Cloud are the ones that will still look right after you have changed the sofa. Peacock green and Mandarin orange are the ones you pick because you want them, and then build the room around.
Polished brass: the warmer of the two finishes — good with wood, cream and gold.
Silver: cooler and quieter, better against gray, black and chrome.
Natural: the easiest to live with, and the one to pick if you are unsure.
White: cleaner and brighter than Natural, good in a pale room.
Cloud: for a cool-toned room where you want the shape more than the color.
Old gold: warm and antique-looking, at home with brass and dark wood.
Ivy green: deep green — works against paneling and dark walls.
Black: the most graphic; strongest on a pale sideboard.
Candy floss: pale pink, made for a bedroom or a dressing table.
Mandarin orange: warm and loud — pick it if the room needs one bright thing.
Oyster pink: muted and dusty, softer than Candy floss.
Peacock green: rich blue-green, the strongest of the cool colors.
