Alkyone is a bird, and it is the reason people slow down in the hallway. The body is acrylic and iron under a gold plated finish, so the shape stays crisp and light on the wall. Take a single bird or the pair, and choose the light color separately — the same bird goes soft and yellow or clean and white. Put it where a wall wants something at eye level: beside a bed, along a hallway, over a console.
Down a hallway, a run of them carries you from one end to the other and gives you something to look at between doors. Beside a bed it frees up the nightstand, because nothing has to stand on it. On a stairwell wall the pair earns its keep after dark and still looks like decoration by day. Switched off, it is still a gold bird on the wall.
