Praxis draws a circle in gold and hangs glass from it.
The frame is metal finished in gold through multi-layer electroplating, which is what gives the colour its depth and keeps it from thinning at the edges over time. Clear glass shades are set around the ring at even intervals, and because the glass is fully transparent you see the filament and the frame through it rather than a solid block of shade.
At 30.9 inches across and just over 51 inches tall, this is a piece with real vertical presence. It suits a stairwell or a double-height entry, where you look at it from more than one floor, as readily as it suits a dining table. The 1.8-metre cord adjusts freely, so the drop is yours to set.
Sockets are standard E12, which means bulbs are easy to find and easy to swap. Bulbs are not supplied, so you choose the colour temperature and the shape yourself - a good thing here, since the glass leaves the bulb visible and it becomes part of the look.
