Molpe is a blown glass sphere held against a disc of metal.
A slim circular metal disc and a sphere of mouth-blown glass, in brass or in black. Mouth-blown means no two spheres come out identical the way machine-made glass does — small differences in thickness and form are the signature of the process. Inside sits a G9, so an LED or an Edison filament both fit. It takes a wall or a ceiling, which is unusual enough to be worth knowing before you decide where it goes.
Two decisions: the metal and the glass. Brass warms the fixture and suits an entryway with wood or warm paint in it; black keeps it graphic and reads cleanly against white. White glass hides the bulb and gives an even round light. Clear glass shows the filament, which is worth having if you are putting a decorative bulb in and want it seen. It is a piece for a small space — an entry, a landing, a short hallway — where anything larger would crowd.
