Merope throws its light backward and lets the wall do the rest.
One piece of warm-toned travertine, carved into an elongated pill, with the LED integrated and the light leaving from behind it. What you get is a halo on the wall rather than a light in your eyes — a very different job from a fixture that points outward. There is no wood and no metal in it; the finish is stone and nothing else. Travertine forms through geological change across thousands of years, so the piece you get is a record of that, not a pattern anyone chose.
Three heights, and the run should follow the wall you are putting it on. The shortest sits well beside a bed or a doorway, where it reads as a mark rather than as a fixture. The middle one is the hallway height — long enough to be seen down a corridor, short enough not to crowd it. The tallest belongs in a stairwell, on a double-height wall, or either side of a wide mirror, where the wash it lays behind itself has somewhere to go.
