Kallias is a long, low run of lantern light over a long table.
Wood and glass do all the work here - a linear timber frame in black carrying eight glass lanterns in a single tier. The materials were picked for the long haul: the timber is stable and will not warp or fade, and the metalwork is wear-resistant and rust-proof. The construction is simple on purpose, which is why it reads equally well as farmhouse, country or plain contemporary.
At 37 inches wide and only 16 deep, it is shaped for a rectangular table or a kitchen island rather than a round room. Eight lamps at warm white 3000K throw ambient light across an area of 215 to 323 square feet, which is genuine whole-room output, not accent lighting.
The chain is adjustable and, usefully, takes the strain off the fixture as well as setting the height - it also makes installation more forgiving. Sockets are E26 / E27 at up to 10W per lamp, running on 110-120V.
