There is a lamp visible at the center of every one of Hegesias' six globes, and after dark that is nearly all you see of it. The globes ride the ends of straight rods that come off a central pole at different heights and different angles, so no two of them sit level with each other. A few rods stop short in a bare metal ball where you expect a globe. You choose brass or black for the metal.
Over a dining table at night it turns into six separate points of light, and the room takes its brightness from all six at once. Brass warms up what is already on the table; black is the harder-edged of the two and draws the frame as lines. Warm white and cold white are the two settings on offer — warm for a table you eat at, cold where you need to see properly.
Warm White: for a dining room, a living room, anywhere the light is part of the evening. This is the 3000K setting.
Cold White: for a kitchen, a home office or a stairwell, where you want the room bright and legible. This is the 6000K setting.
Brass: the warmer of the two, and the one that puts a little color back into clear glass. Go with it if the room already leans warm.
Black: the harder-edged version. Choose it in a room that has black window frames, dark joinery or a lot of steel in it already.

No, the chain is fixed at 19.6 inches and does not adjust. The chandelier itself is 27.5 inches tall and 31.5 inches across, so measure down from your ceiling before you order if the room is low.

Warm white is the 3000K one, made for a dining room or living room where the light is part of the evening. Cold white is 6000K, better for a kitchen, a home office or a stairwell where you want the room bright and legible. You pick one when you order rather than switching later.
