Kyane is a bubble of white silk with a lattice drawn underneath it.
Natural mulberry silk is stretched over a lightweight steel wireframe, and the wires cross beneath the surface in a pattern that shows through once the bulb is on. The silk turns a bare bulb into a warm, diffused glow instead of a bright spot you have to look away from. The frame keeps the whole thing light for its size, and every shade is finished in white, so it reads as one clean form from across the room and as texture up close. A standard E26 socket takes an LED or an Edison-style filament bulb, and the cable adjusts for the hang you want.
The shape is the real choice here. The flat saucers and the saucers are the wide, low ones, and they settle well over a dining table or a kitchen island. The globe and the tall ball hang cleanly in an entry or a stairwell, and they take repeating in a row along a counter. The teardrops, the pears and the cigar are the ones for a bedside, a corner chair or a hallway, where a longer form has space to hang without crowding the wall.
