Leukothea sits so close to the ceiling that you notice the light before the fixture. It is wood, acrylic and iron in one natural finish, and it comes in twelve sizes across rounds, squares and rectangles. That range is the useful part: a hallway, a bedroom and an open kitchen-diner can all take the same design and still be lit properly. Nothing hangs down, so nobody has to duck around it.

The light color changes from the remote, so one fixture covers the whole day — warm through the evening, neutral in the middle of the day, white when you are reading something small. It runs off the wall switch too, if you would rather not keep track of a remote. In a low room it is the fitting that lets you keep the ceiling height you already have. In a big one, the wide rounds and rectangles reach the corners as well as the middle.

Rectangle, 47.24" x 31.50": for a long living room or an open kitchen-diner, where a round would leave the corners dark.

Rectangle, 35.43" x 23.62": for a main bedroom, or over a desk in a home office.

Square, 19.69": for a landing, a hallway or a study.

Square, 15.75": for an entry, a pantry or a walk-in closet, where a square lines up with the room.

Round, 47.24": the largest in the range, for a big living room you want lit end to end.
