Pasithoe is an exposed bulb standing on solid wood.
Metal and wood: a natural wood base, brass hardware, and nothing covering the bulb — the original calls it an open design, which is a fair description. That makes the bulb you screw in part of the lamp, and an amber filament earns its place here more than a bright modern one does. There is a wall plug on its cord, and switches on both cord and body, whichever is nearer your hand.
Walnut with brass is the only finish, so the base is the real choice. Model A stands on a round base and Model B on a square one, matched in every other respect — take the round one where it will sit beside soft things, a stack of books or a bowl, and the square one where the shelf edges are already doing the geometry. Wood and a bare bulb both want to be seen close up rather than read across a large room, and nothing is wired in, so it relocates whenever you do.
