Proteus lifts off the wall in your hand and goes back on the same way.
Yellow travertine and wood, textured rather than polished, with the LED integrated and a battery behind it. The head is adjustable, and it comes off its mount magnetically — off the wall and back on without tools or a second thought. Control is a touch switch on the fixture itself: no remote, no color-temperature menu, just warm light. It charges over USB and runs four hours on a full charge. Travertine is deposited over geological time by processes nobody directed, so the stone on yours is the only piece cut that way.
One size, and the wood is the choice. Dark walnut is the heavier of the two and holds a wall that already has some depth to it — a bedroom, a study. The lighter wood color goes quiet against pale plaster or oak, which is what you want when the travertine should be the thing anyone comments on. Either one belongs beside a bed, in a hallway, or in a rented room where opening up the wiring was never on the table.
