Perses - Travertine and Wood Spot Sconce
- Aim it once, it stays put
- Standard E26 or E27 bulb
- Natural travertine, pores and tones vary
Perses points a barrel of wood wherever you want the light to land.
A round backplate of natural travertine holds a cylindrical spotlight cut from wood, mounted on a polished metal pivot. The pivot is the working part — you set the beam once and the fixture holds it, which is what separates a spot from a sconce. It takes an ordinary E26 or E27 bulb, so brightness stays something you can change your mind about. The stone is natural, and its pores and tones vary piece to piece.
One size, one finish. Aim it at a painting and it becomes gallery lighting; aim it down and it becomes a reading light over a chair; aim it along the wall and it grazes the texture of plaster or brick. In a hallway a run of them, all turned the same way, does more than a row of ceiling downlights ever will.

Point it where you want
The wood barrel sits on a polished metal pivot, so you set the beam once and the fixture holds it. That is the difference between a spot and a plain sconce.
Stone behind, wood in front
A round backplate of natural travertine carries a cylinder cut from wood. The stone is quarried, so the pores and tones on yours are not the same as anyone else's.
Better than a downlight
Aimed at a painting it becomes gallery lighting. Aimed down it is a reading light over a chair, and aimed along the wall it grazes the texture of plaster or brick.
Frequently asked questions
-
An ordinary E26 or E27, LED or Edison, not included. That means brightness is something you can change your mind about later.
-
Yes, and a hallway is where it pays off. Turn them all the same way and a run of them does more for the wall than a line of ceiling downlights.
-
Not necessarily. It works with a common wall switch, and there is also a pull chain, so it can go on a wall that has no switch of its own.
-
Most fixtures install like a standard light fitting and include the needed mounting hardware. For hardwired pieces we recommend a qualified electrician.
