Auxo carries its light up into a canopy of ostrich feathers.
The plumes are genuine ostrich, hand-dyed and hand-arranged in the studio, which is why no two lamps come out quite the same. They sit over six G9 bulbs on a base of polished brass or silver, so the light comes through the feathers rather than at you — warm and diffuse once the evening sets in. It is a plug-in lamp: a cord with an inline push-button switch, no electrician and no hardwiring. Warm LED bulbs are the ones to use, since they run cooler than halogen next to the feathers.
Polished brass is the Hollywood Regency reading, warm against velvet and dark wood in the corner of a living room; silver takes the same lamp somewhere more contemporary, next to steel and pale stone. The feathers then set the tone — natural, white and cloud stay quiet beside a reading chair, while candy floss, mandarin orange and peacock green are for a room where the lamp is meant to be the thing you notice.
