Taygete puts two frosted globes on a travertine base and refuses to line them up.
The base is yellow travertine with metal in the build, and the globes are frosted glass, which is what turns a bare G9 bulb into a soft round light instead of a bright point. The asymmetry is the whole idea — the offset is what makes it read as sculpture rather than as a pair of lamps. And because the bulbs are G9, they are cheap, stocked everywhere, and yours to choose. Travertine is deposited by mineral springs over geological time, so the stone carries a pattern nobody designed.
One size and one finish, so the decision is only where it goes. It does its best work where a wall has room above and below it — flanking a bed, running up a hallway, or on the flat stretch beside a doorway. Put a pair on either side of a mirror and the offset starts reading as deliberate rather than accidental.
