Pontoporeia is fired ceramic with an etched surface waiting to be lit.
Ceramic and fabric, thrown by hand, fired, then lacquered. Its base is etched, and the original makes a useful point about that: the etching declares itself only under light, when the glow rakes sideways across the ceramic and picks out every mark. Above it, fabric over an E26 rated to 40W — diffuse rather than glaring. A cord, a wall socket, a button. No dimming.
Two models, the same size and shape, separated by finish. Model A pairs a light green ceramic base with a plain white pleated shade, and it is the quieter of the two. Model B puts a dark brown base under a rose pattern shade, which turns the lamp into the pattern in the room. Fired ceramic carries weight, which helps on any surface people brush past — an entry console, a bedside, a kitchen counter where things get put down.
