Thyone is Old Hollywood, arriving before you do.
Fifty-six hand-dyed ostrich plumes cascade from a brass base, each one set by hand, so no two fixtures are quite the same composition of color and texture. The stem is hand-finished in polished brass or silver and anchors the whole cascade from a rod above. It takes six G9 bulbs, and a warm 2700–3000K lamp is the one to use — it comes through the plumes as a soft, scattered light rather than a hard beam. It is as much art installation as light fixture, which is the point of buying one.
The shorter of the two heights suits a standard ceiling, over a dining table or a long console, where you want presence without ducking under it. The taller version wants air — an entrance hall, a stairwell, a double-height room where it can be seen from below and from the landing. Natural, white and cloud read soft and stay quiet against pale walls; ivy green, navy and peacock green turn the fixture into the color of the room; candy floss and oyster pink belong in a bedroom or a dressing room; black is the one to choose when you want it read as drama. Brass warms the palette, silver keeps it cool.
