Phaenna glows the way an opal does when you hold it up to the light.
Two opalescent discs are seamlessly joined into one clean elliptical silhouette. The shade is polymer rather than glass, which keeps the fixture light on its cable and far harder to chip, and the body comes in black or white metal. It takes standard E26 or E27 bulbs, and a warm LED or Edison at 2700-3000K is the one to buy: the opalescent shade spreads it into an even wash with no visible hot spots, so the light lands on faces and food rather than glaring back at them. Bulbs are not included.
Choose by the table you are lighting. The three-bulb size is enough over a breakfast table, a kitchen counter or a bedside, where you want light without much presence. The four-bulb size holds a full dining table or an entry hall, and it has the reach to be the thing you notice on the way in. In white it settles quietly into a pale ceiling; in black it draws a clear line against one.
